#SICT.- Within the framework of the declaration of the SCOP Center as an Artistic Monument, published last October 16, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, together with the Ministry of Culture, continues the intervention actions aimed at preserving, safeguarding and protecting the work of Juan O’Gorman, José Chávez Morado, Jorge Best, Guillermo Monroy and José Gordillo, among other artists.

This Tuesday, the Secretary of Culture of the Government of Mexico, Alejandra Frausto Guerrero, and the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, Jorge Nuño Lara, supervised the work to rescue the historical heritage of the SCOP Center.

The Mexican Muralism Park project considers, as a first stage, the safeguarding of the artistic work: the removal and specialized recovery, deterioration analysis and restoration of mosaics, reliefs and sculpture, both original murals and rescued pieces or replicas made after the irreversible damages registered by the 1985 and 2017 earthquakes.

Likewise, and derived from the commitment to Mexico, to honor the original vision of the artists who participated in the project, work is being done in the second stage that aims to ensure that the reinstallation of the mural work is carried out with strict respect for the historical, aesthetic, artistic, urban and social value that, almost 70 years ago, the SCOP Center had, now in the new project called «Park of Mexican Muralism».
