Government of Mexico will deliver more than 500 road infrastructure works with a broad social focus / @jorgenunol @SICTmx >>>

#SICT.- The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, Jorge Nuño Lara, informed that at the end of the current administration, more than 500 highway infrastructure works will be delivered, totaling an investment of 220 billion pesos, equivalent to 1.3 points of the Gross National Domestic Product (GDP).

«These are infrastructure works with a social focus, that transform lives, that expand and improve opportunities for everyone, from the north to the southeast of the country,» he emphasized to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, during the morning conference at the National Palace.

He explained that the SICT’s efforts have been aimed at implementing the infrastructure plan outlined by the President of the Republic, with the objective of reversing the regional socioeconomic imbalance, through road connectivity works that detonate economic development and contribute to reducing inequalities in the national territory.

In giving an account of the SICT’s «Progress of the Infrastructure Plan,» he said that these infrastructure investments not only build roads, they also build bridges to a more prosperous and equitable future. Its extension amounts to more than 8,000 kilometers, which represents a distance comparable to going from Chetumal to Alaska, he said.
