Federation presents national security report for February / @lopezobrador_ @GobiernoMX >>>

#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador led the Security Cabinet’s report for February, a month which saw a 25 percent reduction in intentional homicides nationwide, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.

The daily average number of intentional homicide victims in February dropped to 79. The number of intentional homicides in the country’s 50 priority municipalities decreased 23.8 percent, explained the Secretary ofSecurity and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez.

Guanajuato, State of Mexico, Baja California, Chihuahua, Guerrero and Jalisco accounted for 47.6 percent of intentional homicides. The other states reported a downward trend.

In February,kidnapping had 80.7 percent fewer victims, while femicide decreased 41.5 percent; the federal government is intensifying actions to prevent, prosecute and punish violence against women, said the head of the SSPC.

Motor vehicle theft dropped 50 percent in February and total theft dropped 30 percent, according to information gathered from the 32 state prosecutors’ offices.

Common crimes decreased: individual public transport robbery, collective public transport robbery, home robbery, cattle theft and robbery of pedestrians. Business and individual transport robberies are being dealt with as a priority through coordination with state authorities.

Federal crimes maintained a 26.1 percent decrease last month. The incidence of crimes against health and those related to organized crime and firearms and explosives decreased. The federal government is addressing the increase in financial and tax crimes.
