#BenitoJuárez, #CDMX.- At the instruction of the Mayor of Benito Juarez, Jaime Isael Mata Salas, the Executive Directorate of Civil Protection of the municipality went to different homes with citizen reports of contaminated water to take samples to send them to an external laboratory in order to ensure the health of Benito Juarez residents.

Likewise, the Mayor’s Office informs that it is working in coordination with the Mexico City Water System (SACMEX) to rule out that the water supplied through the public network contains any contaminating agent, for which reason it requested the results of the laboratory samples taken yesterday. At the moment, the homes with reports of contaminated water are concentrated in the neighborhoods of Nonoalco, Nochebuena, Ciudad de los Deportes and Del Valle Norte and Centro.

In this sense, Jorge Alonso, neighbor of the Nochebuena neighborhood said that it is urgent to know what is happening «we do not know if there is something in the water, my wife went to take a bath and felt that it stung her body, so it is worrying, I have 2 girls, 10 and 6 years old, and I would not want something to happen to them because of some oversight, or something in the water, and it is water that is used for everything».

For his part, Iker Urrutia, a neighbor of the same neighborhood pointed out that since Sunday they were warned of a strange smell «the administrator of the building came to warn us not to consume water from the intake, well, from the building to drink, to brush our teeth, to cook, for nothing, that we should use pure jug water, because she already had reports, she had gone to other condominiums to see that the water was with diesel or with some solvent, then, we went down to the cistern and indeed it did have a fuel smell.»
