Health Secretariat conducts epidemiological surveillance for influenza / @gobqro >>>

#EstadoDeQuerétaro.- So far during the cold season 2023-2024 (epidemiological week 40 of 2023 to week 14 of 2024), 991 positive cases have been registered in the state of Queretaro. These include 550 females and 441 males in the age group from one month to 95 years old. During the same period, eight deaths have been reported, one in the municipality of Colon, one in Pinal de Amoles, five in Queretaro and one in Tequisquiapan.

Nationwide, 10,655 positive cases of influenza have been reported during this period and 370 deaths have been reported (in Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Coahuila, Colima, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Durango, Guanajuato, Durango, Guanajuato, Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Mexico, Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico, Michoacán, Morelos, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatán and Zacatecas).
During the cold season, the risk of presenting acute respiratory infections, including influenza, increases; therefore, groups of people between six to 59 months of age, 60 years and older, pregnant women, healthcare personnel, as well as at-risk groups (people with diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, HIV and morbid obesity) are urged to get vaccinated in order to avoid complications.

Personnel from the Health Services of the State of Queretaro (SESEQ) apply the vaccine in the 198 Health Centers located in the 18 municipalities during the opening hours of each unit.
To prevent influenza, as well as other respiratory diseases, it is important for the population to follow the following recommendations:
Wash hands frequently with soap and water, or use alcohol-based gel.
When coughing or sneezing, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or with the inner corner of your arm.
If you have an acute respiratory infection, use a mouth cover.
Do not touch your face with dirty hands.
Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects of common use.
Avoid sudden temperature changes.
Increase the consumption of foods rich in vitamins C and D (fruits and vegetables), as well as liquids.
