Queretaro students represent Mexico at the Cannes Film Festival / @makugo @gobqro >>>

#EstadoDeQuerétaro.- Ana Karen Cervantes, Darla Méndez and Adrés Abad, members of the team of the short film «Pariendo Chayotes» will represent Mexico and Querétaro at the seventeenth edition of the Cannes Film Festival in France, to be held from May 15 to 25.

They will attend the event because they won the Jury Prize at the fourteenth University Rally held during the Guanajuato International Film Festival in 2023.

In this edition of the French festival, they will have the opportunity to present their project at the Short Film Corner, where the most important personalities in the film industry will be invited to attend workshops and conferences, and will have the opportunity to meet with representatives of the film media, and to strengthen ties with major production companies.

In the short film of just under nine minutes, Migue, a 10-year-old girl who is a member of the «Monitores de Pasillo» detective group at her elementary school, is in charge of solving a case where her best friend, Bety, is the culprit, so Migue sets out to find the real culprit and take him to her captain Valentina.

However, during her journey she discovers the truth about the corrupt system of which she is also a part. The message of the play is to show that resistance and justice are also a form of rebellion against corrupt systems.

The direction of «Pariendo chayotes» is by Ana Cervantes, the assistant director is Daría Méndez, the production is by Alicia Rubio, the production assistant is Andy Torres, the director of photography is Dany Garibay and the sound is by Andrés Abad.
