#EstadoDeMéxico.- Six young Otomí students put the name of the State of Mexico on high by representing Mexico and participating with their team Powered Engineering in the robotics competition «First LEGO Challenge 2023-2024» held in Boston, Massachusetts, United States.

The competition was made up of 105 teams from 100 countries, the students from Mexico stood out and showed pride in their Otomí roots, obtaining seventh place.

«In the innovation project we made an interactive mobile cultural museum, we took our maximum representation which is the Otomi Ceremonial Center, where we project through a screen the seven fine arts which is language, culture, traditions, literature, art, film and all those things,» said Brenda Diego Martinez, a member of the team.

For his part, Kevin Joseph Torres Quiroz mentioned that «when the judges presented our project to them, they were impressed because they saw that we, as Otomí, wanted to highlight this culture and take it to other places», since his work was presented in three languages: Spanish, English and Otomí.

Carolina Bautista Magdaleno, a teacher who has accompanied the students in this process, highlighted the learning and interaction they had with other cultures, where they demonstrated their pride, struggle and perseverance for being Otomí.

«When they go to another place to proudly represent what they know, what they know, they take more ownership of what they know and at the same time, they feel proud of being who they are because the fact of sharing with other cultures did not make them at any time feel less, on the contrary, it gave them all the strength they needed to be able to show the world what we are made of,» said teacher Karolina Bautista.
