Governor Samuel Garcia highlights Zero Hunger strategy in NL before the UN / @nuevoleon @samuel_garcias >>>
#EstadoDeNuevoLeón.- The Governor of Nuevo Leon, Samuel Alejandro Garcia Sepulveda had his first participation in the High Level Political Forum 2024 held in New York City, this within the “Forum of Local and Regional Governments”.
The State Governor will be present at this international event from today until next July 16, accompanied by the Secretary of Equality and Inclusion, Martha Herrera, who are part of the Mexican delegation for this edition that has the focus “Strengthening the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective provision of solutions”.
In his speech, the Governor highlighted the success story of the Zero Hunger Nuevo León strategy that was made possible thanks to the alliance with civil associations.
“We come from Nuevo León, a state in the north of Mexico and we want to talk about Zero Hunger. This is the best practice in Mexico, we invested 1 billion pesos and we want to share the results in Nuevo Leon.”
“With Zero Hunger we have an alliance with 200 civil associations and all together we have given food to 337 thousand citizens in our state. The results are incredible, talking about, for example, extreme poverty has decreased 50%; it is the most ambitious gap reduction in our country,” said García Sepúlveda.
He added that other results were the reduction of the lack of access to social security by 5%, educational backwardness dropped from 14 to 13%, and even the reduction to zero in diseases such as anemia in rural and urban areas.
