#Atizapán, #Edoméx.- The Equine Therapy Center of the Municipal DIF System of Atizapán de Zaragoza has provided, in less than 3 years, a total of 11,822 therapies that have helped people with some type of disability.
This Center, located in Colonia México Nuevo, is one of the projects promoted by Mayor Pedro Rodríguez Villegas and the Honorary President of Atizapán’s DIF, Patricia Arévalo Rubio, as part of the modernization of this public organization that is responsible for providing social assistance to vulnerable groups and all families in the municipality.
“It was a sadness to see how at the beginning of the Administration all the offices were closed, without operation, we got to work and today the entire DIF is functional. I invite the citizens to approach, all the staff is ready, with that mentality of extending a close hand, a helping hand to the citizens and giving good attention,” said Rodriguez Villegas.
According to the therapists who carry out the sessions, the physical benefits of equine therapy include the development of muscle tone, increased strength, endurance, balance and coordination, as well as improved motor skills.
Regarding the psychological benefits, this practice allows associating physical sensations with new psychological reactions in relation to the patient and his environment, that is, with the psycho-affective area, cognitive stimulation and expressiveness, increasing self-esteem and security.
Of the total number of therapies given at the Equine Therapy Center in Colonia México Nuevo, 2,457 were in 2022, 3,966 in 2023 and 5,399 therapies so far in 2024.
