#EstadoDeHidalgo.- In the framework of the signing of the Agreement for the Technification of Irrigation Zones, between the government of Hidalgo and the National Water Commission (Conagua), the state governor, Julio Menchaca Salazar, stressed that this is an act of social justice promoted by the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, to ensure the water sustainability of the state.
In this sense, the governor reiterated his commitment to promote shared well-being towards sectors that for years suffered abandonment, and acknowledged the willingness to collaborate shown by the various leaders of the irrigation districts 003 Tula, 100 Alfajayucan and 112 Ajacuba.
Menchaca Salazar indicated that this agreement establishes the cooperation ties between federal and state agencies and the representatives of the irrigation district users, which will allow Hidalgo to position itself as the state with the largest number of technified hectares in the country.
He added that the National Irrigation Technification Program will allow farmers in the Mezquital Valley to make the most of natural resources, optimizing production and guaranteeing the sustainability of their land, as it promotes the efficient and sustainable use of water, reducing its loss through evaporation and filtration.
Aarón Mastache Mondragón, Conagua’s Deputy Director General of Hydro-agricultural Infrastructure, explained that this signing is one of the major actions to benefit the central Mexican countryside, for which there is a federal and state budget of 12 billion pesos to be spent throughout the current administration.
Among the works to be implemented are the lining of 178 kilometers of main canals, as well as 439 kilometers of lateral and sub-lateral canals, 70 control point structures, 1,000 kilometers of secondary canals and the rehabilitation of 23 wells and pumping plants. Also, 8,300 hectares will be technified and another 30,000 hectares will be leveled for planting.
