#SRE.- The Government of Mexico, through its consular network in the United States, will defend the human rights of Mexican nationals in strict compliance with international law, through the legal protection program that to date has contracted 329 legal advisors and to which consultants and law firms in that country have voluntarily joined, informed Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente.

When presenting the actions of this legal defense of protection and assistance already granted by the 53 consulates in that country, which include the verification of the due process and the guarantee of consular notification. De la Fuente reiterated that Mexican nationals in the United States are not and will not be alone.

During his participation in the conference La mañanera del pueblo, headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Chancellor specified that the Legal Assistance Program through External Legal Advisors (PALE), has been strengthened with the contracting of 329 legal advisors and representations in different matters, and informed that each consulate has also prepared a local action plan with specific recommendations for the conationals.

He announced that next January there will be an application for emergency cases, called Alert Button, which is being developed with the support of the Digital Transformation Agency, which will allow nationals to notify the consulate closest to their location about situations of imminent detention, notify family members who have been previously selected, as well as inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The other line that the president has instructed is direct contact with the communities, and we have already begun. I have personally attended some of these open meetings where, first of all, the idea is to tell our fellow countrymen and women that they are not alone and they will not be alone,” he said, reiterating that the consular network is up to the task.
