The “Juan Ruiz de Alarcón” National Playwriting Award 2025 is announced / @cultura_mx >>>

#Cultura.- The Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), through the National Coordination of Literature (CNL), and the government of the state of Guerrero, through its Ministry of Culture, call for the National Playwriting Award “Juan Ruiz de Alarcón” 2025.

Playwrights of Mexican or foreign nationality -with a minimum of five years of verifiable residence in the country- who, through their work written in Spanish or in any of the languages included in the Catalog of National Indigenous Languages, have exalted the theatrical field in Mexico, may participate.

Nominations may be proposed by literary, cultural or educational institutions; civil associations dedicated to cultural promotion; cultural groups or associations or writers, critics, academics and citizens in general, of any nationality, whether natural or legal persons, who must register their candidate in the Digital Platform of the Fine Arts Awards for Literature. The call for entries will be open until Monday, March 3, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. (Mexico City time).

The jury will be made up of three specialists and professionals of recognized prestige and trajectory in playwriting, who will meet virtually during April 2025 to weigh the merits of the nominations. The decision will be final and not subject to appeal.

The award, consisting of a diploma and 500,000 pesos, will be presented to the winner during the award ceremony to be held during the XXXVIII Jornadas Alarconianas, in Taxco, Guerrero.
