The Foreign Ministry receives proposals from the migrant community in favor of the defense of Mexicans abroad / @SRE_mx >>>
#SRE.- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held yesterday, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States, a Consultative Forum for the elaboration of the National Development Plan (PND) 2025-2030, the first of its kind held outside the country, where proposals were gathered from the migrant community in favor of the defense of Mexicans abroad.
The forum entitled “Defense of migrants through consulates: Consultation Forum on Attention to Mexican Communities Abroad”, is part of the efforts of the Government of Mexico to integrate the contributions of Mexican communities abroad to the NDP, in a democratic exercise that includes all Mexican voices in the transformation project led by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
In his initial message, the head of the Chancellor’s Office, Roberto De León, highlighted the importance of including migrant voices in the creation of public policies in his country. He said that Mexico’s foreign policy has people at the center of its actions and invited all those present to contribute their proposals from their experiences.
The meeting counted with the plural and representative participation of multiple sectors, among them migrants in their diversity, young people, women, senior citizens, people with disabilities, academics, business associations, human and labor rights defenders and community leaders, as well as civil society organizations.
Participants included migrant senator Karina Ruiz Ruiz, as well as Hilaria Pascual Martinez, a migrant, social activist and representative of Organized Power in Numbers and Rise Up New Mexico. The forum plenary also received proposals from Mexican migrant leaders Yuriria Morales, Cindy Nava, Alma Rosa Rosales, Jesús Chuy Martínez and Fabiola Landeros.
