#GobiernoDeMéxico.- The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, reiterated that Mexicans living in the United States contribute to the economy of both nations, since, according to the study Fast Facts: Latinos in the United States 2024 by the Latino Donor Collaborative (LDC), Mexican nationals represent 2.06 trillion dollars in the US Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while the entire Latino population contributes 3.6 trillion dollars to the GDP.
“Mexicans in the United States contribute to the national economy with remittances that represent love for their families, love for their country, and we also thank them and that is why we call them ‘heroes and heroines’.
“But, in addition, Mexicans contribute to the economy of the United States, but these data on Mexicans and Latinos are surprising and it helps a lot that these data are known in Mexico, but that this information is known in the United States, because the Mexican community contributes a lot,” she said during the morning conference: ‘Las mañaneras del pueblo’ (The people’s mornings).
The Chief of the Federal Executive pointed out that all Mexicans living in the United States contribute to the U.S. economy: from those who are naturalized to those who do not have papers.
The President highlighted that the Mexican economy is strong both in Mexico and in the United States, as a result of the fact that inflation in the first 10 days of January was 3.69 percent.
“And the peso, with what could have varied in the face of the arrival of President Trump, has held up. So, that means that there is confidence and that Mexico’s economy is fine, it is strong. There are reserves in the Bank of Mexico, there are resources in the people of Mexico (…) Look, this is with everything and the 12 percent wage increase in the minimum wage; and, in addition, we have a Plan, which is called Plan Mexico”, he asserted.
