#GobiernoDeMéxico.- From “La mañanera del pueblo” at the National Palace, the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, led the start of the health days of the national strategy Vive saludable, vive feliz, which seeks to promote a culture of disease prevention in children in 90,832 public elementary schools across the country, through the measurement of weight, height, oral health and visual health, which will serve to create a digital file that can be consulted by mothers and fathers.
“Today this strategy begins, it consists, for all mothers and fathers; nurses, nurses of the Mexican Institute of Social Security, in coordination with the state DIFs and the Federal DIF, and the municipalities, and the Ministry of Public Education and, obviously, the governors, will go to all the schools.
“It is a permanent program to measure height, weight, talk to the students about the importance of nutrition, the importance of exercising, oral health, and also to measure their eyesight in order to know from an early age if they have any problems that require glasses, and the glasses will be free of charge. So, they are going to be provided to all the elementary schools in our country”, she said during the morning conference ‘Las mañaneras del pueblo’.
The head of the Federal Executive Power made a link with public schools in Morelos, State of Mexico, Guerrero, Tabasco and Mexico City, where the governors kicked off the health days.
At the “Benito Juárez” elementary school in Cuernavaca, Morelos, the Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado Carrillo, recalled that Vive saludable, Vive feliz is being implemented in more than 90 thousand schools, where 12 million children will be attended. In this regard, the governor of Morelos, Margarita González Saravia, celebrated the implementation of this program in which teachers, parents and parents are willing to participate.
In Mexico City, from the “Horacio Mann” school, the Secretary of Health, David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz, and the Chief of Government, Clara Brugada Molina, emphasized that the objective is to transform schools into spaces for prevention and health promotion.
