#SICT.- The design of the «El Insurgente» Cable-Stayed Train Bridge responded to the need to protect the ecological reserve from the passage of water from the «Vasco de Quiroga» spring, which supplies water to 13 neighborhoods in the western part of the Valley of Mexico, stated Adriana Cardona Acosta, Director General of Railway Projects for the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT).

The structure, half a kilometer long and with a 200-meter span, will allow the ecological zone below to be cleared. «It was very important that it not interfere with the passage of the spring,» she emphasized.

The construction of this bridge took two years, and the completion of the civil works is scheduled for next May.

«Work is currently being done to retension the cables so the train can continue its route,» the federal official emphasized.

Located next to the Fourth Section of Chapultepec Park and the University of Health, the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train Cable-Stayed Bridge, whose construction generates 350 jobs, features unique railway characteristics in the world due to its curvature, gradient, and its role as part of a rail service.
