#EstadoDeMéxico.– The State of Mexico achieved first place in vaccinations nationwide by reaching 100 percent of its goal, with the administration of 218,578 vaccines in 125 municipalities during National Vaccination Week.
During the closing ceremony of this campaign in the municipality of Ecatepec, Macarena Montoya Olvera, State Secretary of Health, emphasized that the objective is to complete basic immunization schedules and expand coverage for seasonal and high-risk conditions.
She highlighted the responsibility and commitment of the medical and nursing staff to the health of the people of the State of Mexico. «To achieve this goal, we need the support of all of you, who are the main actors and builders of public health in society,» said Macarena Montoya Olvera.
He also indicated that, in line with the public policies of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez, the most important thing is the well-being of the population, and this is achieved by reducing the risk of serious illnesses and protecting vulnerable groups through free health services.
Ramiro López Elizalde, Undersecretary of Health Policies and Population Well-being for the Government of Mexico, asserted that vaccines represent safety and enable community development. «Every year, vaccines save between three and five million lives worldwide. In Mexico, before the hexavalent vaccine, diphtheria killed hundreds of children each year; today, that number is practically zero, which is why we must increase our vaccination coverage.»
José Moya Medina, representative of PAHO/WHO Mexico, emphasized that this institution recognizes the actions our country is taking in vaccination matters. In the case of diphtheria and whooping cough, he emphasized: «The vaccines given to pregnant women will be passed on to the newborn through the placenta, so the newborn will be born with antibodies.»
During this event, health authorities presented ISO 9001:2015 Certificates to the Subdirectorate of Material Resources of the Administration and Finance Coordination of the State of Mexico Health Institute (ISEM) for having adequate quality standards in the vaccine storage areas, which impacts greater efficiency in the vaccine supply chain.
