In Cuautitlán Izcalli we are preparing for the rainy season: Daniel Serrano / @daniel_ser @GobIzcalli >>>
#CuautitlánIzcalli, #Edoméx.- In his weekly press conference, the mayor of Cuautitlán Izcalli, Daniel Serrano, reported on the preventive measures his administration has taken to address the rainy season, which will formally begin on May 15th and last an estimated six months.
According to the general director of Operagua, Christian Laguna Reyes, the municipality has recorded 63,880 linear meters of dredging progress, including stormwater and sanitary drainage infrastructure. Of these, 3,640 linear meters have been completed on main roads, such as 1° de Mayo, Teotihuacán, and Jiménez Cantú avenues, which has a positive impact on a larger population.
This was possible despite the condition of the hydrosuction equipment, known as «vactors,» a situation he explained in detail: «Of the ten pieces of equipment the agency has, we only received two working; we have already recovered two more to address our reports,» stated the head of Operagua.
He elaborated on the cleaning and weed-clearing work on rivers and channels, such as those carried out on the Cuautitlán River in coordination with the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) and on the San José Canal, near Carril de San Agustín, tasks that will soon be joined by personnel and machinery from the State of Mexico Water Commission (CAEM).
He highlighted the cleaning of the regulating reservoir on the Circuito Exterior Mexiquense, near the Valle de las Flores neighborhood, a task he stated had not been completed for at least eight years. Meanwhile, the dredging of the canal on Constitución Avenue, which flows into Lago de los Lirios, will prevent flooding and provide fluidity to this important thoroughfare during rainy weather. Regarding the work on the El Ángulo Dam, a regulating reservoir where CAEM, Operagua, and the operating agencies of Atizapán de Zaragoza and Nicolás Romero, SAPASA and SAPASNIR respectively, are working in a coordinated manner, Laguna Reyes announced that 10,000 cubic meters of silt have been removed to date and that work on gates 1 and 2 is just days away from completion.
