#EstadoDeMéxico.- Operations Bastion, Swarm, Atarraya, and Fortaleza have hit crime hard: the State of Mexico has seen a 33 percent decrease in high-impact crimes.
On the instructions of Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez, the Secretary of Security, Cristóbal Castañeda Camarillo, presented the results to date of the operations aimed at dismantling safe havens for criminal groups; combating corruption and impunity; intervening in establishments used for the commission of crimes; combating vehicle theft; and strengthening security in the eastern part of the state.
At a press conference, the State Secretary of Security, accompanied by the President of the Court of Justice, Judge Fernando Díaz Juárez, and Deputy Prosecutor Martín Marín Colín, listed the crime figures in the State of Mexico.
Operation Bastion focused on dismantling safe havens for criminal groups. This operation has covered the municipalities of Amatepec, Luvianos, Sultepec, Tejupilco, Temascaltepec, and Tlatlaya. Twenty-one searches were carried out on March 28th in full coordination with federal, state, and municipal security forces. The State of Mexico Attorney General’s Office announced that it has initiated asset forfeiture proceedings, and to date the Ancón de la Presa and Las Canchas ranches are in state possession.
Operation Swarm to combat corruption and impunity. To date, 16 municipalities have been raided. As a result of the dismantling of ties, complicity, and protection networks between public servants and criminal groups, 60 people have been arrested, 44 of them former or former officials.
Operation Atarraya to raid establishments used for the commission of crimes. He detailed that 3,282 locations have been investigated and 821 barbershops, clubs, bars, and beer bars have been intervened. These operational actions were carried out between December 14, 2024, and May 13, 2025, in 55 municipalities. This was done after analyzing that the operation of these types of regular and irregular commercial activities is linked to the commission of crimes such as homicide, kidnapping, crimes against public health, and gender-based violence.
Operation Fortaleza to combat vehicle theft. In close coordination between the Prosecutor’s Offices and the Security Secretariats of the State of Mexico and the nation’s capital, 82 search and seizure investigations were executed; 30 of these in two municipalities of Mexico City and 52 in 17 municipalities of the State of Mexico in locations and establishments identified as vehicle lots, auto repair shops, salvage yards, and auto parts stores. 2,800 tons of auto parts were seized, the legitimate origin of which could not be verified.
