#EstadoDeMéxico.- Two months after the implementation of the Eastern Operational Strategy (EOO), vehicle theft decreased by 42.35 percent in the 11 municipalities where it is implemented, while intentional homicide decreased by 15.15 percent.

“This Monday, we held the Coordination Roundtable for Peacebuilding in #Ixtapaluca, where we reviewed the progress of the #EstrategiaOperativaOriente (Eastern Operational Strategy) for 11 municipalities in eastern #EdoMéx.

Two months after its implementation, we have seen a 42% reduction in vehicle theft and a 15% reduction in intentional homicide. Together, federal, state, and municipal authorities are working to respond to the demands of the people of the State of Mexico. #ThePowerToServe #EdoMéxIsTransformed,” Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez stated on her social media.

These figures were presented by General Alejandro Alcántara Ávila, in charge of the Eastern Operational Strategy for the Federal Government, who highlighted that from March 25th—the launch date of the strategy—to May 24th, 1,257 fewer vehicle thefts were recorded compared to the same period last year.

This contributes to inhibiting the illegal sale of auto parts, the proliferation of clandestine warehouses to hide vehicles, and the crime of fraud.

The EOO is being carried out in 11 priority municipalities: Valle de Chalco, Chicoloapan, Naucalpan, Tlalnepantla, Nezahualcóyotl, La Paz, Ecatepec, Ixtapaluca, Texcoco, Chimalhuacán, and Chalco.

Horacio Duarte Olivares, Secretary General of the Government of the State of Mexico, attended the 415th session of the Coordination Roundtable for Peacebuilding and the EOO meeting. Cristóbal Castañeda Camarillo, State Security Secretary; and José Luis Cervantes Martínez, Attorney General of the State of Mexico.
