#MinistryofForeignAffairs#Mexico.- Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente announced today that the proceeds from the special National Lottery drawing, «Mexico with an M for Migrant,» will be entirely allocated to strengthening consular assistance and protection for the migrant community in the United States.

During his participation in the «La mañanera del pueblo» (The People’s Morning Conference), led by President Claudia Sheinbaum, the Foreign Minister specified that these funds will be allocated to six specific actions that will support vulnerable Mexicans, particularly those lacking financial resources.

The Foreign Minister listed the actions that will be implemented and that, in their initial phase, will strengthen the capacities of 11 consular offices with the highest demand for protection:

Legal representation and guidance in immigration and criminal matters, including representation in court, defense in deportation proceedings and minor offenses, as well as comprehensive support for detained minors. This includes the payment of immigration bonds in critical cases.

Strengthening capacities at consular protection centers with the highest demand, with community personnel specializing in protection issues in Brownsville, Detroit, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Miami, New Brunswick, New Orleans, Omaha, Presidio, and San Bernardino, in the initial phase.

Consular protection visit program to detention centers, labor centers, and prisons to verify detention conditions and respect for due process, document testimonies of human rights violations, and contact family members.

Extraordinary preventive protection sessions in locations far from the consular headquarters. This will allow for the formation of mobile consular protection brigades in rural areas, agricultural centers, or shelters to conduct migration assessments, conduct preventive discussions on migration risks, and inform local authorities about their rights, as well as detect cases of abuse or forced removal.

Emergency aid for natural disasters and support for vulnerable people affected by floods, fires, or hurricanes, among others.

Preventive programs and dissemination of informational materials on social media and local media for the Know and Exercise Your Rights campaign.
