#SecretaryofWellbeing#Mexico.– The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, confirmed the significant progress of the Welfare Census being conducted door-to-door across the states of Hidalgo, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, and Querétaro, following recent natural emergencies. As of 13th October, 4,178 homes have been surveyed across 30 municipalities as part of this vital registration process. She explained that, following explicit instructions from President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, aid would be delivered to “the last corner where it is required” via the Programme for the Welfare of People in Social or Natural Emergency (PESN).

Speaking at the morning conference, «Las mañaneras del pueblo,» Secretary Montiel Reyes detailed the operational priorities, confirming that they are focusing on communities with the “greatest affectation” that are now accessible. She noted that efforts were concentrated across 30 municipalities on the previous day, with particular attention paid to Poza Rica. To accelerate data collection, she announced an immediate surge, stating: “We are going to have 800 colleagues who are already there and, in fact, I informed the President last night that we decided to reinforce the number of colleagues to advance rapidly with the census.”

The Secretary emphasised the determination of the teams despite the operational challenges, stating: “The roads are complicated, but we are going to get to the last corner where we need to apply the census.” She praised the dedication of the staff, noting, “our colleague Servidores de la Nación are accustomed to walking, today they are doing so in these conditions, but we are making progress.” Furthermore, to assist with recovery, five thousand beneficiaries from the Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro programme will be incorporated into the crucial clean-up efforts within the affected regions.

In a move to streamline the aid process and avoid unnecessary red tape, the Welfare Secretary issued a specific request to the affected families. She urged them to simply take a photograph of the damage sustained to their homes to show the Servidores de la Nación during the survey. “The instruction of our President is that we do not engage in bureaucratic procedures,” she asserted, adding, “The important thing is that the homes are cleaned by whoever can do so, and that there will be trust in the people that they will tell us the extent of the damage.” The census process also now includes an evaluation of the conditions of local schools.
