#MinistryOfCommunicationsAndTransportation, #México.- The Government of Mexico, through the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), has confirmed that 169 communities previously affected by the recent extraordinary rainfall have had their communication links successfully restored thanks to coordinated efforts. This significant achievement was highlighted in a presentation delivered to the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, detailing the rapid progress of recovery work across damaged state, municipal, and feeder roads.
The report to President Sheinbaum Pardo indicated that between 14 and 20 October, the number of isolated localities dramatically decreased from 288 to just 119, following the clearance and opening of 340 vital roads. Minister Esteva Medina emphasised that this considerable progress was the direct result of the dedicated deployment of 9,941 personnel and 1,079 machinery units from both the SICT and the Secretariats of Defence and the Navy.
Minister Esteva Medina further detailed the operational support, confirming the crucial role of 47 helicopters deployed across the affected states: 21 in Hidalgo, 17 in Veracruz, 7 in Puebla, and 2 in Querétaro. During his address at the “Mañanera del Pueblo” conference, he specified that the number of isolated areas in Hidalgo had fallen from 184 to 75, and in Puebla from 32 to 5.
Crucially, the Minister noted that the figure for Veracruz dropped from 51 to 39 isolated communities, while both Querétaro and San Luis Potosí achieved the vital milestone where «all communities already have free access». These statistics underscore the success of the comprehensive, cross-agency strategy implemented to urgently restore essential connectivity for thousands of citizens.
