#MinistryofForeignAffairs, #Mexico.- The SICT has announced measures aimed at safeguarding the security and operation of the Mexican Aeronautical System, in accordance with the Bilateral Agreement and respecting National Sovereignty. These actions are part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with international aviation standards while maintaining smooth domestic and international operations.
The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport (SICT) also reported on directives issued by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT). The first directive mandates the suspension of two active routes from Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), effective from 7 November, alongside the cancellation of 11 planned routes from AIFA and Benito Juárez International Airport (AICM) to the United States, effective immediately.
The executive order further prohibits requests for new routes or increased flight frequencies from AIFA or AICM to the United States until further notice. The second directive warns of potential restrictions on Mexican airlines’ permissions to carry combined cargo on passenger flights between AICM and the United States. SICT emphasises its commitment to protecting national interests while adhering to international regulations.
