Millions of Beneficiaries to Gain from ISSSTE’s Upgraded Hospitals and “Dignified Treatment” Programme / @martibatres @ISSSTE_mx >>>

#ISSSTE#Mexico.- The Director General of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), Martí Batres Guadarrama, highlighted the organisation’s progress during President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s morning conference, “La Mañanera del Pueblo.” Batres Guadarrama detailed significant advances in hospital infrastructure in the state of Oaxaca, improved medicine provision, and the “Dignified Treatment” strategy for the 13.9 million beneficiaries. These achievements reaffirm the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services throughout the country.

In the presence of the Secretary of Health, David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz, Martí Batres reported that the ISSSTE has inaugurated the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) “Asunción Nochixtlán” in Oaxaca, following an investment of $19.9 million pesos. This new clinic, which replaces the previous facility and became operational on 27 October, will benefit more than 5,800 people. Batres emphasised the symbolic importance of the location, noting that it was “emblematic of a very strong repression against the teaching profession” during the neoliberal period.

Martí Batres further shared that construction is progressing steadily on the new Regional High Speciality Hospital (HRAE) of Oaxaca, set to benefit 1.7 million beneficiaries. The work, which began on 8 August of this year, is currently in the deep foundation phase, involving the placement of twenty-metre-deep piles made from high-resistance concrete. This tertiary care medical facility represents an investment of $3.5 billion pesos and will feature 250 census beds, 44 consultation rooms, and 36 medical specialities.

The new HRAE will be equipped with cutting-edge medical services, including a clinical analysis laboratory, a blood bank, and a Sleep Clinic, as well as state-of-the-art imaging facilities such as X-rays, ultrasound, mammography, tomography, nuclear medicine, and magnetic resonance imaging. Furthermore, the Director General confirmed that the Institute is strengthening medicine supply nationwide, with the support of the Ministry of Health, through the National Distribution Centre (CENADI), which currently stores more than 47 million units of medicine.
