#MinistryOfCommunicationsAndTransportation, #México.- The Government of Mexico, through the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), achieved a key milestone in the rehabilitation of the Eastern Road Network of the State of Mexico under its Comprehensive Regional Plan. The head of the SICT, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, formally delivered three resurfacing trains to the municipalities of Chicoloapan, Ecatepec and Nezahualcóyotl, marking the return to the direct administration model, which had remained unused for decades. The introduction of this state-of-the-art, high-performance machinery represents a renewed strategy to enhance road infrastructure, essential for improving connectivity and safety across the region.
During the event, Secretary Esteva Medina emphasised the importance of restoring the institution’s own operational capacity, stating that “we are returning to having our own equipment, which gives us the ability to respond” to any contingency. This initiative highlights the public service commitment and the need to address infrastructure demands with efficiency and immediacy, as these are the “first three resurfacing trains” delivered in the State of Mexico. Accompanied by Undersecretary of Infrastructure Juan Carlos Fuente Orrala and General Coordinator of the National Institute for Federalism and Municipal Development Armando Quintero, the SICT head praised the quality and high performance of the equipment provided.
The SICT plans to expand this initiative with the delivery of a total of 30 resurfacing trains in the next phases, as part of a project involving an overall investment of 1.885 billion pesos. Of this amount, 1.247 billion pesos will be allocated to the acquisition of machinery, while 638 million pesos will cover the costs of asphalt mixture and labour required for project implementation. This significant federal investment reinforces the Mexican Government’s commitment to road rehabilitation and to improving the quality of life of residents in the eastern region of the state.
Each resurfacing train delivered or planned comprises a specialised set of machinery integrating multiple essential components for a comprehensive resurfacing process. The fleet includes a milling machine, a paver, several roller and pneumatic compactors, as well as a water tanker and an asphalt distributor or pump truck. It also features a tandem steel roller compactor, a pneumatic compactor, an asphalt profiling mill and an earth compactor, ensuring high technical precision and superior execution quality throughout the rehabilitation works.
