ISSSTE delivers 600 loan settlements as Martí Batres highlights shift toward social justice / @martibatres @ISSSTE_mx >>>
#ISSSTE, #Mexico.- The Director General of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), Martí Batres Guadarrama, recently visited Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico, to oversee a significant social initiative. He formally presented 600 final settlement certificates for Fondo de la Vivienda (FOVISSSTE) loans, a move that strongly underscores the “social vision” of the Second Floor of the Fourth Transformation, championed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. This action reaffirms the government’s commitment to the economic security of its state employees and pensioners.
Addressing a large group of pensioners and retirees, Martí Batres firmly highlighted the stark contrast between current policy and previous administrations. He pointed out that while neoliberal governments historically “condoned taxes” for individuals with immense fortunes, the current administration is focused on “condoning unpayable debts” for state workers. He stressed: “Adeudos de 200 mil, 500 mil, 800 mil pesos, de deudas que eran impagables porque estaban estructuradas con criterios neoliberales” (Debts of 200 thousand, 500 thousand, 800 thousand pesos, debts that were unpayable because they were structured with neoliberal criteria).
The Director General, accompanied by the ISSSTE governing body, underscored the human impact of the initiative by citing specific beneficiaries, including Rubén Rodríguez León, whose debt of 611 thousand pesos was cancelled, and Juan Antonio Montiel Pérez, who was relieved of 488 thousand pesos. The list of beneficiaries also featured Julio César Martínez, with a 481 thousand peso cancellation; Josefina Pérez Martínez, who saved 272 thousand pesos; and Ana María Romero, with 175 thousand pesos condoned, ensuring that all “are now owners of their homes”.
Jabnely Maldonado Meza, the Executive Vocal of FOVISSSTE, further elaborated on the comprehensive support strategy for creditors beyond debt settlements. She noted the launch of additional initiatives, such as the “Tú Construyes” programme for building social housing in the southern communities of the country, the automatic debt forgiveness for recipients over 80 years old, and the successful “FOVISSSTE-INFONAVIT Unidos” joint credit scheme designed to make home ownership “easier for families”.
