The Zócalo in Mexico City will host an important cultural exhibition organised by the Ministry of Culture / @cultura_mx >>>

#SecretaríaDeCultura#México.- The Zócalo in Mexico City is set to host a spectacular cultural event on Saturday, 22nd November 2025, as children, adolescents, and young adults from the Community Culture groups finalise their preparations for a grand performance. This showcase forms a vital part of the “Attention to Causes” initiative and is central to the “Yoltlajtoli – Voces Vivas” Community Cultures Festival 2025, a celebration designed to champion Mexico’s rich linguistic and cultural diversity through the voices and creativity of its participants.

These talented performers include speakers of eleven different indigenous languages, such as Amuzgo (Nn’anncue), Chichimeco Jonaz (Uzá), Mazahua (Jñatrjo), Mixtec (Na Savi/Ñuu Saavi), Nahua, Otomí, Sierra Popoluca, Tarahumara (Rarámuri/Ralamuli), Northern Tepehuan (O’dame), Southern Tepehuan (O’dam), and Tlapanec (Me’phaa). The participants are working closely with collective teams from the DGVC, SNFM, and INPI to develop the production’s texts, musical compositions, scenic designs, and final selection, ensuring authenticity and genuine collaboration.

The staged performance draws its artistic inspiration from the Ceiba tree, revered in various Mesoamerican cultures — notably Maya and Nahua — as the connection point between the three cosmic planes through its roots, trunk, and canopy. The production is structured around these three powerful scenic moments: the root, symbolising a profound link to ancestors and indigenous languages; the trunk, representing the earthly realm and the challenges of coexistence; and the canopy, becoming the “living voice” of those committed to protecting nature.

Every rehearsal, gathering, and interpretative moment forms part of a cohesive artistic journey that intertwines traditions, ancestral knowledge, and raw emotion. This creative process will “blossom in the Zócalo” on Saturday, 22nd November 2025, serving as a potent and visible symbol of unity, cultural memory, and collective hope for the entire nation.
