In Edomex, Tlalnepantla de Baz Calls for United Action to End Violence Against Women / @RacielPerezC_ @Gob_Tlalne >>
#Tlalnepantla, #StateOfMexico.- In a powerful demonstration of commitment to gender equity, the Municipal President, Raciel Pérez Cruz, has issued a heartfelt appeal to local residents to take decisive action aimed at eradicating violence against women and fostering improved living and security conditions for all females. Timed for the monthly «Orange Day» commemoration on the 25th, the leader emphasised that this recurring date must serve as an urgent call to arms against a pervasive issue that, regrettably, still endures in the 21st century.
The Mayor stated that this act of memory and action is far more than a symbolic date; it is a critical reminder to tackle the ongoing crisis of violence against women, declaring that the administration is determined to «guarantee the human rights of all.» Pérez Cruz solemnly recalled the countless women throughout history «who have shown bravery and who have given their lives to fight against a world that opposes their fullness,» underscoring the severity of the challenge.
Citing distressing figures from the United Nations, the Mayor noted that 736 million women globally have been victims of physical, emotional, or sexual violence in their lifetime. He asserted that this alarming statistic presents a clear challenge, obliging all citizens to reach an agreement on concrete proposals «to eradicate any form of violence towards women.»

Furthermore, Pérez Cruz specifically directed a strong message to public servants, urging them to fully grasp the gravity of this issue and ensure they «eradicate any form of harassment towards their subordinates in all areas of the Town Council and society in general.» He passionately affirmed that whether the issue manifests «in daily life, within families, in women’s relationship with institutions and powers of the state, wherever it may be,» the current generation must unite to take «decisive steps» toward a solution.
As a core part of the commemoration, the Teatro Centenario hosted the play “¿Qué veo cuando me veo?” (What Do I See When I See Myself?), a moving performance by the Civil Association «Ellas en Escena.» This collective, comprised of artists and experts, uses cultural activities and social disciplines to enhance the public’s understanding and promote women’s access to a life free from violence.
Minerva Barrón Escobedo, Head of the Municipal Government’s Directorate for Women, highlighted the administration’s proactive stance. She confirmed the implementation of robust public policies since the start of the term, including the «rescue of public spaces,» «campaigns to prevent harassment on public transport,» and the establishment of a «protocol against harassment and abuse,» all designed to eradicate and draw attention to violence against women. The department’s Mobile Unit continues to visit communities across the municipality, with field officers going door-to-door to advertise the various support services available for victims of violence.
The municipal government is thus fully committed to leading by example, fostering an environment where awareness is paramount and the commitment to safety and equality is taken on by every resident and public official.
