IMSS promotes Comprehensive Care Protocols to strengthen preventive health and prevent chronic diseases

#InstitutoMexicanoDelSeguroSocial.- The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) presented the Comprehensive Care Protocols (PAI) for Chronic Diseases and their complications, which establish guidelines that health personnel at the three levels of care must apply in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of beneficiaries with heart conditions such as arterial hypertension, acute heart attack, cerebrovascular disease and diabetes mellitus.

The PAI are the result of the work of doctors, nurses, nutritionists, social workers, psychologists and researchers, among others, who based on a scientific analysis systematized preventive health care to make it safer, more accessible, high quality and effective.

On behalf of the IMSS General Director, Master Zoé Robledo, the Director of Medical Benefits, Dr. Célida Duque Molina, pointed out that the PAIs focus on the three levels of care, with a strengthening of primary health care.

In the auditorium of the National Academy of Medicine at the Siglo XXI National Medical Center (CMN), Dr. Duque Molina said that these protocols are focused on early detection, education and co-responsibility in individual and collective health, the expansion of drug options from the first level, intensification of non-pharmacological treatment and the option of double and triple pharmacological therapies in a single pill.
