Ministry of Economy welcomes proposal of the General Law on Mobility and Road Safety

#SecretaríaDeEconomía.- The Ministry of Economy welcomes the proposal for the General Law on Mobility and Road Safety that is currently under discussion in the Chamber of Deputies. Therefore, it seeks to ensure that it complies with international standards and operates in accordance with the commitments of the Mexican State.

The Ministry of Economy is in charge of the National Quality Infrastructure System, which was established as a result of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC). This system, among other things, guarantees that norms and standards for products and services are aligned with the requirements and commitments that the Mexican State maintains with its international partners.

In addition, the Ministry of Economy is the agency in charge of defending Mexico in international disputes arising from non-compliance with agreements with our trading partners. Consequently, it seeks to ensure that any law fully complies with the international agreements acquired by our country.

The Ministry of Economy only issues opinions on specific amendments to bills or minutes being discussed in Congress, in compliance with its powers. In this sense, this Agency acts in accordance with the principle of the division of powers and will respect the final decision made by Congress; however, it welcomes the enactment of a general law on such an important issue for national life.
