#Tecámac, #Edoméx.- In a funeral ceremony, the Tecámac City Hall paid tribute to the second captain, Alejandro Cruz Castañeda, who was recognized for his outstanding work of 20 years in the Fire Department, despite his visual impairment.

Mayoress Mariela Gutiérrez Escalante emphasized that the work of this public servant, who passed away at the age of 63 last Monday, leaves a legacy in the heroic Fire Department of the municipality, for his willingness to serve the people of Tecamaquenses.

«He was a pillar of inspiration a living testimony, and the ability to serve transcends any physical limitation; he showed us that visual impairment was not an obstacle to fulfill the noblest of callings: to serve others,» she added.

In the tribute, attended by members of the municipal administration, friends and family, she also recognized Tecámac’s firefighters, who are among the best trained in the State of Mexico.

The mayoress expressed that the memory of Captain Segundo will remain in the memory of public servants.

In his speech, Hector Zadorov, Coordinator of Civil Protection and Firefighters of Tecámac, emphasized that the story of Cruz Castañeda is an example of overcoming, courage and will be a lesson for future generations of firefighters. At the end of the ceremony, the mayoress made a guard of honor and later the flag, helmet and photograph were given to his relatives, while he was dismissed with the siren round and the last roll call.
