More than 19 million passengers transported on domestic and international flights in the first two months of 2024 / @SECTUR_mx >>>
#SECTUR.- Passengers transported on domestic flights in January-February 2024 represented an increase of 21.6%, compared to those recorded in the same period of 2019; meanwhile, passengers on international flights exceeded those of the first two months of 2023 by 9.7%, and those transported between January and February 2019 by 23.4%. Regarding domestic flights, the airlines with the highest passenger flow during January and February 2024 were Viva Aerobus and Volaris, which transported 6 million 543 thousand passengers, exceeding 2019 passengers, with an increase of 74.1%.
The top five airlines with the highest passenger arrivals on domestic flights during the first two months of 2024 were Viva Aerobus with 3 million 426 thousand passengers transported; Volaris with 3 million 118 thousand passengers transported; Aeroméxico with 1 million 811 thousand passengers transported, Aeroméxico Connect with 761 thousand 183 passengers transported, and Magnicharters with 41 thousand 218 passengers transported.
During the months of January and February 2024 the main Mexican airlines that transported passengers on international flights were Aeroméxico and Volaris with 2 million 181 thousand passengers, an increase of 16.5% more than in 2023 and 39.4% more in relation to passengers in 2019.
The U.S. airlines that, in the first two months of 2024 had the highest passenger flow were: American Airlines and United Airlines, which transported 2 million 383 thousand passengers, an increase of 6% more than in the same period of 2023, also surpassing the passengers of the first two months of 2019, with 57.1%.
Regarding passengers transported on international flights during January and February 2024, according to the main markets, North America concentrates a share of 86.7% of the total, of which, from the U.S. market 5 million 44 thousand passengers were transported, with an increase of 8.6%; on international flights on Mexican airlines 2 million 699 thousand passengers were transported with an increase of 16.1%, while on flights from Canada 1 million 229 passengers traveled with an increase of 16.8%, compared to what was transported during the first two-month period of 2023.
