Operation Knock on Doors in Istanbul will boost tourism from Turkey and other regions to Mexico / @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) presented the seminar “This is Mexico” to nearly 100 tour operators from Turkey and the region, as well as the vice president of Turkish Airlines for the Americas, Muhammed Fatih Durmaz; the president of the Turkish Hotel Association (TUROB), Müberra Eresin; and the tour operator businessman, Cengiz Deveci, where he showed the wide tourism offer of our country to key players in the tourism industry.

He explained the importance of the tourism industry for the national economy, as well as the new developments in tourism products and priority projects such as the Mayan Train, airports such as the one in Tulum, highways and other infrastructure works that facilitate the movement of tourists between Mexico’s 270 tourist destinations.

During the seminar, the most popular destinations for tourists in Mexico were highlighted, such as Cancun, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City, to mention a few, as well as destinations where nature and adventure, cultural and gastronomic tourism stand out, which captured the interest of tour operators, including the 177 Magical Towns, 32 Magical Neighborhoods, the 35 sites declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, archeological zones and more.

Torruco Marqués stressed that the ties between Turkey and Mexico are strong and close, thanks to the cooperation between the authorities and the private sector, which work together to boost the flow of travelers between both nations.

As part of the Operation Knock on Doors tour in Istanbul, the Secretary of Tourism held a working meeting with Cengiz Deveci, a businessman and tour operator with more than 1,600 employees who represents a high number of tourists to Mexico from Turkey and other relevant international outbound markets; and who is not only interested in increasing the flow of tourists, but also in investing in our country.

They discussed the launch of the first charter and transatlantic flight from Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) to Sofia, Bulgaria, which will begin on May 17, connecting Mexico with the Balkans for the first time.

The head of Sectur and his entourage also met with Müberra Eresin, president of the Turkish Hotel Association (TUROB), with whom they discussed the importance of Mexico’s hotel infrastructure, as it is the seventh largest in the world in this field, as well as the investment and growth options in this industry offered by our country, in addition to the close ties of cooperation with academic institutions in Ibero-America, with which there is a strong link in terms of training and professionalization.
