Mexico prepares for first public hearing before the ICJ on the storming of its embassy in Ecuador / @aliciabarcena @SRE_mx >>>

#SRE.- The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will hold tomorrow the first public hearing in relation to the violent raid by the Ecuadorian police on the Embassy of Mexico and the aggression against diplomatic personnel, which took place on the night of Friday, April 5.

During this first hearing, held at the Peace Palace in The Hague, Mexico will present its arguments on the violations of international law committed by Ecuador, specifically the principle of inviolability of diplomatic seats established in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. In a second hearing, Ecuador will respond to the arguments presented.

Likewise, in view of the initiation of proceedings that Ecuador filed today in the ICJ against our country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) informs that it is noteworthy that these accusations are presented almost a month after the violent attack on the Mexican Embassy. However, the accusations were foreseeable and will be answered at the appropriate procedural moment.

The SRE reaffirms its commitment to international law and justice, through existing mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of disputes, and calls on the international community to strengthen them.
