#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) discussed with his counterpart the prospects and opportunities that exist between Mexico and Italy that will boost tourism activity, as well as joint promotion strategies to encourage tourism flows.

They highlighted the current trends in the bilateral tourism relationship, as well as the priority tourism projects and best practices being carried out in our country, which are helping to consolidate it as an international tourism power and an attractive investment destination.

They agreed to strengthen air connectivity, especially considering that next year will be the Jubilee Year. They highlighted the current status of the CDMX-Rome and Rome-Cancun flights, as well as the possibility of increasing direct routes and frequencies between the two countries.

It was pointed out that air connectivity has contributed to the recovery of Italian tourism to Mexico, with Cancun, Mexico City and Monterrey being the three main destinations visited by this market during 2023.

Between January and February 2024, 29,32 thousand 32 tourists from Italy arrived in our country, which is 8.7% more than in the same period of 2023; and they reported an expenditure of 36.6 million dollars, which is 12% more than in the first two months of last year.
