Increase in the number of sentences in the State of Mexico; here are the most relevant in terms of gender / @Edomex >>>

#EstadoDeMéxico.- Within the framework of the inter-institutional work in the Coordination Tables for the Construction of Peace, headed by Mrs. Delfina Gómez Álvarez, Governor of the State of Mexico, there has been an increase in the number of arrests, indictments and sentences in gender-related crimes during the period from September 16, 2023 to April 30, 2024, thus inhibiting criminal conduct.

During the aforementioned period, the following have been obtained:

• 90 sentences for femicide, 12.50 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year.
• Seventy-four probable perpetrators of femicide were brought to trial, 27.59 percent more than in the previous period.
• The number of convictions for intentional homicide of women increased from 15 to 27, an increase of 80 percent,
• Legal proceedings were initiated against 45 persons investigated for the crime of intentional homicide of a woman, which represents a 114 percent increase.
• For intentional injuries, the number of sentences increased from 17 to 18, an increase of 5.88 percent.
• Sentences for failure to comply with obligations went from 26 to 33, an increase of 26.92 percent.
• For the crime of disappearance committed by private individuals, seven convictions were obtained in the first four months of 2024.
• The crime of domestic violence showed an increase in the number of people brought to trial, with 177 people brought to trial, an increase of 4.12 percent.
• In the crime of child abduction, there was a 25 percent increase in the number of people against whom legal proceedings were initiated.
