#EstadoDeMéxico.- Joint solutions to problems such as land use change in conservation areas, poor urban planning, irregular settlements and contamination of bodies of water were the main concerns of communities, academia and agencies of the Government of the State of Mexico, led by the Secretary of Water, during the Forum Proposals for the construction of the Sector Program with Watershed Vision: “Overcoming Risks and Threats”.
During this event, which took place at the Center for Sustainability Incalli Ixcahuicopa (CENTLI), which brought together neighbors concerned about the protection of Lake Tláhuac-Xico, the Secretary of Water, Pedro Moctezuma Barragán agreed with society on the need to make native peoples, community systems and various forms of organization at the basin level visible in the sum of projects and opinions to nurture the Sector Plan 2023-2029.
“We are faced with the need for the forms of planning to be binding, not only consultative. It is important to combat extractivism and the desolation sown by invaders, loggers, hill burners and all those who engage in criminal activities, that all these behaviors are confronted by strong communities and an energetic and determined government,” said Moctezuma Barragán.
During this event, Armando Alonso Beltrán, Executive Vocal of the Water Commission of the State of Mexico, emphasized the need to use solid waste as construction material from the integral recycling of single-use plastics, such as PET bottles and polyethylene.
