Celaya advances in environmental matters with sludge plant / @municipiocelaya >>>
#Celaya, #Gto.- The Junta Municipal de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado de Celaya (JUMAPA) delivered and put into operation the first sludge treatment plant in Celaya, with which the Municipality makes important progress in environmental matters, by adequately complying with the final disposal of the waste extracted from the cleaning of the city’s drainage network.
This delivery was headed by federal, state and municipal authorities, as well as representatives of the organized civil society and the operating agency, where the general director of JUMAPA, Mr. Roberto Castañeda Tejada emphasized that this is the first treatment station for sludge from the cleaning of the city’s sewage system of this level in the country.
The work had an investment of almost 16 million pesos and will eliminate the amount of water, infectious content, major waste such as sand, stones, garbage, organic debris, among others, which today affect the processes of the Celaya Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Therefore, in addition to mitigating negative environmental impacts, the operation and life time of the treatment plant equipment is optimized.
In addition, it minimizes costs by avoiding the wear and tear of subsequent equipment, such as pumps and reactor washdowns.
The treatment capacity is 140 thousand liters of sludge, resulting from the maintenance of the sewage network, equivalent to 24 vactor trucks per month, since the cleaning actions in Celaya per year represent the cleaning of 756 km of sewage networks, 216 km of collectors and 15,600 grids per year. This represents a cleaning distance (only of sumps and collectors) from Celaya to Nuevo Laredo.
