#SICT.- The road reconstruction in Acapulco de Juarez and Coyuca de Benitez in the state of Guerrero, affected by Hurricane Otis, will be completely finished this week and the four toll booths of the Cuernavaca-Acapulco Highway will remain toll-free for the benefit of 18.8 million people, stated the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara.
Before President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, during the presentation of the «Progress in the recovery of Acapulco de Juárez and Coyuca de Benítez», the head of the SICT highlighted the rehabilitation actions with an investment of 463 million pesos in that region.
He explained that after Hurricane Otis, the President’s instruction was from October 25, 2023 to recover land routes, as well as communications and telecommunications.
In those 24 hours, the highway and the road from Chilpancingo to Acapulco were recovered. Subsequently, in a second stage, seven reconstruction actions were defined: five of them have already been completed and two will be finished this week.
The total investment for road reconstruction was 271 million pesos. The Mendizábal Bridge in Acapulco, Mexico 95 highway, which connects Chilpancingo with Acapulco at kilometer 21, was completed. 19 urban roads in Acapulco that were affected were also reconstructed.
