#EstadoDeMéxico.- Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez headed the Signing of the Salaries and Benefits Agreement of the Union of Teachers in the Service of the State of Mexico (SMSEM) 2024, with an increase in the remuneration of public servants teachers, which will not only be reflected in the base salary, but also in benefits such as school supplies, transportation costs, teaching materials, food, among others.
“As a teacher with many decades of work and professional performance, I know that the salary increase and the approved benefits are an act of recognition, but also of social justice,” said Governor Delfina Gómez.
The state governor indicated that the list of demands presented by SMSEM on April 18 of this year was promptly followed up, and the salary increase is higher than what was allocated in 2023.
She added that the list of demands was analyzed in work tables that allowed promoting agreements, resulting in a 40 percent increase in resources for scholarships for teachers’ daughters and sons.
The state governor pointed out that as a result of the austerity policy and the efficiency in the use of resources, 62 clauses were incorporated to support teachers with different programs such as:
- The Fund for Teachers with Terminal Degenerative Diseases.
- Aid for children with disabilities,
- The acquisition of prosthesis and implements for rehabilitation.
“That is why I hope that this effort, this dialogue, this teamwork, this work with the intention of improving quality, will continue to be maintained and increased, to make education the best way to transform our beloved State of Mexico, and to build a future of wellbeing for the people of Mexico,” he said.
