#ISSSTE.- In order to promote and ensure self-care, the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste) has 17 health prevention and protection actions for the entire population, whether or not they are beneficiaries, at different stages of life, with the aim of preventing diseases, generating healthy habits and promoting a good quality of life.

In the framework of the International Self-Care Day, which is commemorated today, the Deputy Director of Prevention and Health Protection, Vanessa Lizeth Vizcarra Munguía, emphasized that these actions are based on empowering people to generate their own self-care awareness.

For this reason, she said, at Issste we implement various public health programs, such as the ECOS for Wellbeing strategy, which consists of creating community teams with people who work outside the walls among different population groups to promote healthy lifestyles, in accordance with their customs and habits.

In 2023, through this program, 552 teams were formed, who carried out 13 million 216 thousand 662 actions for the benefit of five million 892 thousand 951 people, as recorded in the Statistical Yearbook 2023 https://goo.su/8mHxZR.

Similarly, the Institute implements programs focused on preventing breast, cervical and prostate cancer, as well as those related to vaccination, oral health, circle and mutual aid groups; epidemiological surveillance and control, overweight and obesity, maternal and perinatal health, among others.
