#SICT.- In order to reduce the backlog in road infrastructure in Nayarit, which prevented it from adequately connecting with its 20 municipalities, the Mexican Government has a portfolio of projects that includes 20 priority works with an investment of 27 billion pesos and a goal of 639 kilometers, said the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara.

In a meeting with members of the Cabinet headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in the company of the virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, on Priority and Infrastructure Projects in Nayarit, the head of the SICT highlighted the effort of the Mexican Government to considerably reduce this backlog that affected the inhabitants of the region.

He explained that, out of the portfolio of 20 infrastructure projects, 15 have been completed: 10 rural roads, 3 manpower roads and 2 highways, with an investment of 17,200 million pesos and a goal of 559 km.

As for the highways, he highlighted the Compostela-Las Varas and Las Varas-Bucerías stretches, for the benefit of more than 700,000 inhabitants, which have been requested for six years, but are now commitments that have become a reality.

This highway plan, he added, is made up of three highways: Tepic-Compostela, Compostela-Las Varas and Las Varas-Puerto Vallarta, which complete the Guadalajara-Vallarta axis. The high-spec highway system has a length of 212 km, of which 151 km are in operation.
