#SE.- The Ministry of Economy, together with the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), the US-Mexico CEO Dialogue, GE HealthCare and the Nuevo León Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Caintra), inaugurated the first edition of the Business Roundtable «MSMEs in Value Chains: High-Tech Medical Devices,» with the participation of micro, small and medium-sized suppliers seeking to establish relationships with the sector’s driving companies.

In her participation, the Secretary of Economy, Raquel Buenrostro, highlighted the dynamism of the medical device sector, where the industry in 2023 represented almost 110 billion pesos of the GDP, placing Mexico as the fourth exporter worldwide with more than 40 medical device production plants and the first supplier of the US market, surpassing China.

He commented that during these days in which buyers and suppliers will meet, it is expected to detonate a greater growth of the industry hand in hand with the national supply to replace these imports from the development and promotion of small, medium and small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) located in Mexican territory.

The Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce, Othón Valverde, explained the scope of the Industrial Policy and highlighted the role of the medical device industry and micro, small and medium-sized companies. He also shared data from the start of the conference, where eight tractor companies and 41 MSMEs have registered and have already agreed to more than 150 business appointments in two days of work.

In his speech, the president of the CCE, Francisco Cervantes, identified the medical devices sector as an opportunity for growth, highlighting Mexico as a leader in exports and employment in the industry.
