Before President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo who headed the event, the head of the SICT expressed that the Ciudad Valles-Tamazunchale highway is already a “mission accomplished”.

Addressing the President Elect, he said, “We are leaving a strong Secretariat, and I am sure that with your leadership and commitment, you will continue to build the present and future of Mexico.”

Also in attendance were the Governor of San Luis Potosí, Ricardo Gallardo Cardona; the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez; and the Secretary of Works and Services of Mexico City, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, the head of the SICT emphasized that the work is a response to the inhabitants of this region by providing them with a wider highway that can be traveled more safely, which will benefit more than 374,000 inhabitants of nine municipalities and their 58 indigenous communities.

He mentioned that, with an investment of 8,600 million pesos, the 103-kilometer extension will reduce travel time by half, from 2 hours and 20 minutes to just 1 hour and 10 minutes, and will boost the region’s social and economic development by providing better infrastructure.
