#IMSS.- The professionalization process for appointing the Heads of the Decentralized Administrative Operation Bodies (TOOAD) is the beginning of a broad transformation that provides transparency to the selection of the representatives of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in the states and, at the same time, strengthens its operation, said the Director of Operation and Evaluation, Javier Guerrero García.
He recalled that upon assuming the general direction of the Institute, Zoé Robledo decided to initiate an unprecedented strategy to elect the IMSS representatives in the states, which consisted of leaving behind the dedazo, the unipersonal appointment, to prioritize the recognition of merit, capacity and loyalty to the Social Security worker base.
Javier Guerrero García indicated that this legacy of professionalization managed to institutionalize practices that benefited the operation by making assertive decisions for the Institute and had an impact on quality, medical care and coverage to fulfill the commitment to provide satisfactory services to the beneficiaries and solve the problems of medical care in Social Security.
“The Institute is in the territory, in the hospitals, in the communities, therefore, the heads, through their new positions, must send signals of transformation in their states,” he said.
The Director of Operation and Evaluation pointed out that as a result of the first competitive examination held in 2019, the IMSS OOADs were made up of 17 women and 18 men, of whom 12 were doctors, 17 doctors, five nurses and one nurse, all with extensive experience within the Institute and whose careers include years of accumulated experience.
