#IMSS.- The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) is continuing its commitment to provide timely, quality and warmth care to oncology patients treated at its medical units in Michoacán, in order to follow up on their requests and supervise the timely supply of medications.

At the head of the 20th virtual meeting, Gabriela Paredes Orozco, head of the Unit of Attention to Entitlement, informed that as of August 29, 233 requests had been received from 109 patients, of which 98 percent (229 cases) have been attended to and only four cases are in process.

He pointed out that 59 requests for medicines, 51 medical appointments, 18 treatments (9 chemotherapies and the same number of radiotherapies), 12 medical attention, 9 appointments in advance, 8 surgeries, 6 per diem payments, 2 disability payments, one pension procedure and one data correction have been processed.

She also expressed that facilities have been granted for the performance of 62 studies: 18 tomographies, 9 ultrasounds, 7 bone scans, 6 mastographies, 4 biopsy/pathology scans, 4 PET scans, 3 immunohistochemistry scans, 2 chest x-rays, 2 laboratory scans, 2 densitometry scans, as well as an electrocardiogram, an echocardiogram and a cholangioresonance scan.

Mrs. Paredes Orozco recognized the head of the Deconcentrated Administrative Operation Body (OOAD) in Michoacán, Dr. Miguel Ángel Van-Dick Puga, and the Governing Body of this entity, “for the excellent work they have been doing with the patients”.

Dr. José Luis López Obispo, coordinator of Medical Programs of the Oncology Care Coordination, reiterated the commitment of the Social Security headquarters to support the beneficiaries in Michoacán and follow up on their cases and comments, as well as the procedures required in accordance with the instructions of the Medical Benefits Directorate and the General Directorate.
