Economy and German Technical Cooperation present report on New Women Entrepreneurs with Internet Businesses >>>
#SE.- The Ministry of Economy and the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ) presented a study that offers a vision of the new profile of Mexican micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) led by women in the digital era, also known as “New Entrepreneurs with Internet Businesses” or “Nenis”.
The head of Economy, Raquel Buenrostro Sánchez, highlighted that this document is a first step, where visibility is given to all these women, who help their families and our country; and with this data, the government will be able to develop dynamic public policies that cover their needs and allow their businesses to grow and strengthen.
He assured that this Secretariat will put its efforts from its attributions to bring programs, accompaniments, trainings, that help to boost the businesses of the Nenis, such as the programs Impulsando Talento Mexicano en la Nube of Amazon Services or the one of Kyndryl, with which they can develop digital skills. “We have a commitment with you, it is the time for women and we are going for our total independence and empowerment.”
For his part, the director of the Department of Economics of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Gunnar Schneider, highlighted the importance of promoting the use of data and generating timely and updated information on groups that were invisible, which will allow the analysis of inequality gaps and thus, make evidence-based decisions that help to enhance the economic autonomy of women.
From the report, it is estimated that 1.2 million women in Mexico are part of the Nenis, a community whose business model generated an estimated 80.2 billion pesos in 2023, equivalent to 9% of the value of retail sales of goods and services through social networks in the country. Their efforts contributed to the economic well-being of 4.9 million people living in their homes.
