Second stage of “El Insurgente” Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train “El Insurgente” begins operations / @jorgenunol @SICT_mx >>>

#SICT.- The Government of Mexico launched the second stage of the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train “El Insurgente”, which will transform the lives of more than 5 million users, by saving up to 1 hour and 30 minutes in travel time, said the Undersecretary of Infrastructure of the SICT, Jesús Felipe Verdugo López.

During the inaugural ceremony led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, on behalf of Secretary Jorge Nuño Lara, Verdugo López indicated that this new transportation option is a symbol of the Fourth Transformation and testimony to the commitment to efficient mobility and progress in our region.

“We take a significant step in the connectivity of two of the most important entities in our country: Mexico City and the State of Mexico, territories that have erased their dividing line and have become sister entities,” he emphasized.

From now on, with stages 1 and 2 in operation, the journeys that previously consumed hours of our time will be reduced to just 40 minutes, to achieve a better quality of life, he said.

In the presence of the Head of Government of Mexico City, Martí Batres Guadarrama; the Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, and the Secretary of Works and Services, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, the Undersecretary of Infrastructure pointed out that this train will transform the lives of more than five million people in the municipalities of Zinacantepec, Toluca, Metepec, Lerma, San Mateo Atenco, Ocoyoacac, and the municipalities of Cuajimalpa and Álvaro Obregón.
