#Atizapán, #Edoméx.- As part of the 150 Years of Municipal Life of Atizapán de Zaragoza, Mayor Pedro Rodríguez Villegas kicked off the 5K Athletic Race and 2K Walk, in which a total of one thousand athletes participated and gathered at the Ana Gabriela Guevara Sports Center.
The event started at 8:00 a.m. However, an hour before, entire families gave life to the competition with cheers to Atizapán and enthusiasm to be part of an event in which the main objective was to celebrate the municipality itself, promote sports and social coexistence.
Minutes before the start, the Municipal President told all the competitors that this was the beginning of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of Atizapán, which is celebrated every September 3, and expressed that throughout its history, this municipality has had the efforts of women and men who have forged one of the most important entities in the country.
“This is not just another race, it is a very important race, we are about to celebrate 150 years of the foundation of our beloved Atizapán de Zaragoza, we did not want the date to go unnoticed, we wanted to have this moment of coexistence and that they remember that they are part of a prosperous municipality, which is shining for positive things, I want those of us who live here to feel proud to be atizapenses”, said Rodríguez Villegas.
After that, the Mayor took part in the 2K Walk and covered the entire circuit until he reached the finish line to applaud all the athletes who participated in the event in which five screens and five scooters were raffled, in addition to awarding a participation medal to all the enthusiastic competitors.
The winner of the 5K was international runner and athlete Orlando Cuevas, a resident of the San Miguel Xochimanga neighborhood, with a time of 15:08 minutes; he was followed by Armando Cabrera and Alejandro Alejandre Sánchez.
